Dang (The Good Kind)

Truth be told I’m a little embarrassed. You see I love writing silly love songs. I’ve written a bunch but they are nothing to brag about. I haven’t shared this one yet because, well, honestly I don’t want to loose any readers. Silly reason huh? I think too much about that stuff. The internet is a funny place. Anyways, I thought I better share it before I forgot. I hope you enjoy!

When I first saw you
And shook you hand
I just thought “Dang,
I’m in trouble”
There was something
In your smile, your confidence
Our conversation…
“Dang, I’m in trouble”

Hey-o Montana! with those chocolate eyes
Won’t you take a little walk with me and lay beneath the sky
Hey-o Wyoming! and the blue bird by her heart
Won’t you sing a little harmony where ever it is you are

You grabbed my arm
When we were walking down the street
I just thought “Dang,
I’m in trouble”
The grass was warm
I could feel your heart beat
“Do you want to kiss me?”
“Dang, I’m in trouble”

Hey-o Montana! with those chocolate eyes
Won’t you take a little walk with me and lay beneath the sky
Hey-o Wyoming! and the blue bird by her heart
Won’t you sing a little harmony where ever it is you are

I’ve found Alaska
looking for me
I thought “Dang,
I’m in trouble”
I think I’m staying
It’s like it’s where I’m supposed to be
Least for the moment
“Dang, I’m in trouble”

Hey-o Montana! with those chocolate eyes
Won’t you take a little walk with me and lay beneath the sky
Hey-o Wyoming! and the blue bird by her heart
Won’t you sing a little harmony where ever it is you are

You sure are pretty
As lovely as the spring
I’m thinking “Dang,
I’m in trouble”
I hope you’re smiling
But I’m glad that I can’t see
Cause then you know what
That I’d be in trouble

Story : I lost my breath when I saw the Tetons. I’ve never been so awestruck, I had to stay a week. Then I went to Montana, 3 weeks later it was hard to get myself together enough to leave, but I had a journey planned. I needed to finish the task. I often think I’m not good at finishing things. After some time in Alaska, I thought “Dang, I need to stay here”. As much as I wanted to go back to Montana and Wyoming the mountains here beckoned me. So here I am. Until I know I’m supposed to leave or Fitz Roy starts calling.

  1. I love it! Your words bring not only beauty in the written form, but they also convey a picture. I’ll continue to stop by for a story or a song!

  2. Reminds me of me. I wandered the country and fell in love. Colorado Rockies, Canyonlands of Utah, AT, LT, JMT, Teton Crest. Stayed in AK for a month under Denali’s spell. Had a crush on Chomolungma (Everest) most of my adult life. The first time I saw her with my own two eyes I cried, but she had no warm fuzzies for me three weeks later when I stood at her base straining to see her icefall through blizzard conditions. Nepal changed me forever….and yes, the Torres, too, has been on my radar and time tells me not to put it off much longer.

  3. New to your blog. I have to saw I admire your confident vulnerability. i think I’ll be singing this tune when I’m out exploring this beautiful world.
